Every comprehensive school class has its in-house class clown. Tirelessly hyperactive and compulsively subversive, he (and it always is a he) leaves at 18 in a flurry of grade D’s for a life as a gift-of-the-gab sales rep and the life-and-soul of the local taproom. Unless, of course, this licensed joker becomes a national literary phenomenon. And when we say national, we mean in the inquirer sense.
Witty, occasionally (when his heart is on final jeopardy, or embalmed) withdrawn, irreverent and engagingly insecure, Nathaniel G. Moore is the perfect mascot for his own cerebral celebration.
He’s candid, honest, and transparent, his vulnerability brings new dimensions to the old axiom about growing up in public, or in print, and in the voyeuristic self-obsessed tabloid age of Paris Hilton in which we live, watching him marinate in his own sense of constant betrayal is as valid a pastime as the next. His latest works include Desire Doom & Vice (Wingate Press) and Bowlbrawl (Conundrum Press) plus a new poetry collection forthcoming with Pedlar Press in 2007.
